This week we worked on the letter C.
Here we are on Friday cheering for letter c. We had an easy little chant that went like this:
C is for cat! C is for cat! C is for cat!
(Then I'd point to a child and let them pick another 'c word' and we'd repeat)
C is for cake! C is for cake! C is for cake!
I was impressed with how many 'c words' they were able to come up with.

All week long we tried to have snacks that started with the letter C. Here are some kids eating carrots and crackers. The little boy in orange is making 'Mickey Mouse' with his crackers. LOL, so cute.

These kids used play dough to make a candy cane.
Overall I was very pleased with how well everyone did this week. I noticed a few kids were saying 'b' when I showed them a 'c' and asked what it was. This isn't really a bad thing, it shows they remembered some of what we learned last week, it will just take a little more practice before they get it down. My four year old classes really struggled with the patterning activity, we'll keep working on that. The three year old classes need a little more practice with cutting and holding pencils/crayons correctly. However, everyone is doing great at learning to follow directions. We're getting settled in a nice routine and it makes learning so much easier. I very pleased with how helpful my students are this year and how eager they are to learn.
Most of my classes have now been sorted into their reading groups, I'll finish that up over UEA weekend and when the kids come back from fall break I'll let you know which groups your children are in. For those who haven't heard- White readers will be working on mastering letter names. The yellow readers will be my students who know the letter names and are learning all the letter sounds. Once a child learns all the names and sounds they will be in the red reading group and will begin learning to sound out words and begin reading.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
