Additional class policies

Birthdays

I will celebrate my students birthdays as close to their real birthday as possible. For children with summer birthdays, we’ll celebrate the ‘un-birthdays’ the last two months of school. Watch the monthly calendars to see what day that will be. We’ll sing to them, give them a gift and make them feel important. Most children like to bring a special treat to share with their class that day. I think it’s great and will serve that during snack time. This is optional though, and I will still serve something ‘fun’ from my snack cupboard if nothing is brought from home.

Illness

Please keep your child home if they are sick. If they have had a fever, diarrhea or thrown up within 24 hours, they should not come to class. You should also keep them home if they have aches and pains, a severe cough, thick colored discharge from the nose or an unexplained rash. Thank you for understanding.

Allergies

If your child has allergies, please talk to me and let me know. I will work around food allergies when I choose snack each day. It also helps to know about seasonal allergies, if you drop them off and they are having a bad day due to allergies, let me know. I get them myself in the spring and will understand.

Water Bottles

Water is the healthiest drink in the world and I love it. I bring a large water bottle to school and drink from it often. Because of this my students frequently ask if they can bring one. The answer is yes, I do let my students bring their own water bottles. I have them keep them in their backpacks though, to prevent other children from sharing. If you want to send one I strongly suggest finding one that is spill proof. Young children do not always close traditional water bottles tightly and this can sometimes make a mess in their backpack. Please do not send milk or juice.

Potty Problems

Children do not have to be potty trained to start at this preschool, however, we do not change any diapers or pull ups. Please understand that if your child has an accident we will call you unless he/she has a change of clothes and can easily change themselves.
